After cleaning out the litter box of Glock modifications I’ve compiled a list of my favorites. There isn’t a huge after market for Glock pistols. There sure are a lot of little crappy sight sets, grip plugs, bayonets (WTF?) and just general Chinese goods. A guy can easily go out and spend a fortune on any gun, but how much of it is actually making the weapon more effective? Here are six cheap and great ways to add to your Glocks performance.
Clipdraw is an under 20 dollar accessory that streamlines the CCW process. Clipdraw is great if you aren’t a fan of wearing a holster and just want a good utility carry style. They make a line of clips that fit just about any pistol under the sun. With the Clipdraw in place you can carry at 1-3-6 o’clock. The drawing of your weapon is totally snag-free. You also don’t get a big bulgy print that a lot of holsters show. The kit comes with an extra slide plate with pre-tapped holes and mounting hardware. Get your Clipdraw here! Glock Clipdraw
The Glock Extended Slide Release is under 15 dollars. This is my favorite Glock add on for an instant increase in functionality. I hate how flat and square the factory slide release is. Even the grippy little ridges are rounded. It’s all around shit. Make sure if you plan on running some magazines through your Glock to get this add on. 20 minute install that’s under 15 bucks, come on? If you don’t add this piece you must not shoot your Glock enough to be bothered by the factory slide release. If that’s the case, hand over your weapon. This upgrade will fit Glocks with 2 and 3 pin frames. 2 Pin frame is pre-2002 and post-2002 should be 3 pin. Check out the 2nd picture to see the difference between a 2 pin and 3 pin Glock frame. Glock Grip Tape from Guntape is around 5-15 dollars. Not a whole lot to say about this stuff other than it’s CHEAP and it’s AWESOME! There is definitely not much of an aftermarket for reasonably priced grip solutions for your Glock. The idea behind this product was spurred by skateboard grip tape. A lot of operators modified the grips and fore-grips of their weapons with Skateboard grip tape. The problem is that the adhesive backing on skateboard grip tape is very rigid and does not mold well to contoured surfaces. Along come the geniuses from Guntape to make this custom modification a long term solution. Their material is basically a rubberized grip tape with an adhesive backing that will stick to flat or textured surfaces. This stuff is cheap and makes a super sticky grip for your Glock. Extended Slide Lock for under 15 dollars. This little piece just makes servicing your Glock a little easier. This part is super simple to install. All you do is safety check your Glock, pull the slide off, press down on lock block and tilt pistol to right while still depressing (slide lock should slide out), Install is reverse of removal. It’s a 5 minute install even for a first timer. The extended slide lock is only a few millimeters larger than stock, but it really makes a difference in ease of field stripping. Extended Slide Lock
Glock Beavertail Adapter for around 25 dollars. How many scars do you have from getting slide-bit from your Glock? I think we all have a few. Grip Force Adapters makes a product that adds a beavertail style back strap to your standard Glock grip. There are two things this does. The primary reason is to keep the top of your hand from getting cut or pinched by the slide blow back. If you fire a lot of rounds through your Glock, you have definitely gotten “slide-bit”. It hurts like hell. The second thing that the grip adapter does is take away some of the forward angle of the grip. A lot of people prefer a thicker straighter grip, and I believe THAT had a lot to do with the Glock Generation 4′s adjustable back strap design. Don’t let the thin plastic look fool you. These are made from the same polymers pistol lowers are made from. It is very sturdy and wear resistant. If you prefer the feel of a 1911 or are just tired of the Glock slide bite, pick one of these up. It’s a super neat product and it’s cheap! New Grip Force Gen 1 2 3 Glock BeaverTail Adapter
